THIS IS THE END

BBFC advice: Contains very strong language, strong sex references, drug use and gore.
So the pretence is over. Seth Rogen has spent his film career playing characters similar to himself -here he plays himself for real.
This Is The End is bewildering, self-indulgent twaddle involving a bunch of Hollywood mates of Rogen's.
But there is no doubt who is responsible: Rogen co-wrote it, co-directed it and stars in it.
Its premise is that Jay Baruchel (the real Jay Baruchel) visits Rogen in Los Angeles for the weekend.
They do what Rogen does in most of his movies and get stoned and eat junk food while playing computer games.
And then they go on to a party at the real James Franco's house where the guest list is a who's who of Hollywood.
So, there are relatively straight cameos for Jason Segel, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Rihanna, Kevin Hart and Aziz Ansari.
Meanwhile, there are memorably weird contributions from Michael Cera, Channing Tatum and Emma Watson.
But the leads are Rogen, Baruchel, Franco, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson and Danny McBride who set about trying to survive the apocalypse which has taken the form of a burning hell, started by an LA earthquake.
Amid the carnage are the usual boring 'witticisms' about drugs (particularly 'weed'), endless unfunny sex gags and a host of in-jokes which would only be understood by connoisseurs of Rogen's movies.
Sadly, I am but not because I'm a fan. I just watch every film by everybody.
Actually, in recent times I thought he had shown more style in films such as 50/50 and The Guilt Trip.
But now he has literally gone straight back to base.
Those half my age in screen 9 of Nottingham Cineworld did laugh - but not enough to make me think this would be a big hit.
Of course, I know I may well be wrong. Somehow Rogen has carved a very lucrative career out of trash such as This Is The End.
Laughs: a half-chuckle for me.
Jumps: actually, I did jump twice.
Vomit: none
Nudity: yes
