TRAP FOR CINDERELLA

Here's a tip... the best time to watch non main-stream movies is the latest showing on a Thursday night.
I've regularly plumped for this slot and it came up trumps again at Nottingham Showcase.
Now I shouldn't have shouted it too loudly because this week Mrs W and I had the cinema to ourselves which is just the way we like it.
We were entertained by a better than average British thriller from Iain Softley.
Trap For Cinderella has echoes of Single White Female with Tuppence Middleton playing the sociable niece of a rich aunt (Frances De La Tour) and Alexandra Roach as the childhood friend who is obsessed with her in adulthood.
Softley's storyline stretches from London to the south of France, the latter providing a beautiful back drop to the film's crescendo.
Before then, the girls rekindled their relationship in London where Middleton's character is a wild child photographer and Roach's (who has just moved to the capital) is a rather square accountant.
But as they become closer, it is clear sinister forces are at play.
Both Middleton and Roach are entrancing in the lead roles and receive effective back up from Aneurin Barnard, who recently impressed in Citadel, De La Tour and Kerry Fox (the aunt's ambitious personal assistant).
Trap For Cinderella deserved bigger audiences and a longer stint than the week it had at selected multiplexes. It's certainly worth picking up on DVD.
Laughs: none
Jumps: none
Vomit: none
Nudity: yes - in fact, there seemed to be something of an obsession with Middleton's top half.
Overall rating: 6/10
