BBFC advice: Contains moderate violence.

Am I ever going to get Punjabi humour? The more I try the more it utterly bemuses me.
For example, Lucky DI Unlucky Story has a scene in which an epileptic son is brought out of his fit by his dad waving his smelly shoe under his nose.
Yes, they may not do nudity in Punjabi or, indeed, any Indian movies but they are not hot on political correctness either.
But that isn't the only reason that I was defeated by Lucky DI Unlucky Story.
I am completely done with the farcical misunderstandings which underscore all Punjabi rom coms.
In this one, serial lothario Lucky (Gippy Grewal) is finally hooked by beautiful if rather dimwitted Seerat (Surveen Chawla).
But his hopes for an easy path towards marriage are doused by a series of slapstick incidents.
Actually, one isn't so daft because it includes a murder but, hey, this is the Punjab so more ribaldry surrounds the corpse.
The whole escapade is similar to those  I have seen in many Punjabi movies and my sense of deja vu is increased by the very familiar cast.
Thus, Grewal is the hero, as he was in Singh Vs Kaur and Best Of Luck, Chawla is the herione, as she was in Singh Vs Kaur and among the support are Jaswinder Bhalla and the seemingly omnipresent Binnu Dhillon.
Dhillon is listed for no less than eight movies in 2013 and in 2012 he was in six.
Now he may be a very nice chap but fantastic actor he ain't. Although, by dint of his movie catalogue, one must deduce that Punjabi audiences go for his exaggerated, 100-miles-an-hour, shouty, pull-lots-of-extreme-faces comedy.
Anyway, Sumeep Kang's Lucky DI Unlucky Story didn't float my boat but I am not its target audience and I wouldn't think its crew would care two hoots about what I write.
