BBFC advice: Contains strong language and violence

And the hits keep on coming. With a superb soundtrack by Clinton Shorter and dynamic double act between Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg, 2 Guns is another surprise summer success.
To be honest the trailers hadn't really whetted my appetite but the black humour, brisk dialogue and fast action makes it a winner.
Mind you, I shouldn't have been too shocked - I am a fan of Washington and The Fighter proved that Wahlberg is one of the most underrated actors around.
Here their characters try to infiltrate a drugs cartel unaware that they are both undercover members of the authorities (Washington is a Drug Enforcement Agency officer and Wahlberg is from Navy Intelligence).
What they also don't know is that their senior officers are willing to allow them to be collateral damage as they all have their eyes on the criminals' ill-gotten gains.
Washington and Wahlberg make a great offbeat team - the former offering more of the brainpower and the latter providing the brawn as they face hostility from all sides.
Meanwhile, there is cracking support from Bill Paxton as an unhinged CIA officer and James Marsden in a surprise role as a ruthless Navy Intelligence man.
2 Guns benefits from inspired direction from Baltasar Kormakur who is clearly a Wahlberg fan.
Fortunately, his star packs far more of an emotional punch here than when the duo last teamed up in Contraband.
Indeed, 2 Guns scarcely lets up from start to finish.
