BBFC advice: Contains mild violence and mild language
Mrs W really is a wife in a million.
Instead of being wined and dined by her husband on a Friday night after a tough week at work, she joined me in an hour-long trek to Wolverhampton to watch a Punjabi comedy.
This is even more impressive when you think about the amount of times we have tried to plug into this genre and failed.
Not a word of complaint, however, even when her meal only turned out to be a six-inch Sub and packet of Doritos.
Anyway, the words Punjabi comedy are synonymous with Binnu Dhillon and Jaswinder Bhalla and, sure enough, they turn up again in Viyah 70km.
I have lost count of the number of movies in which the pair have appeared this year but they must be vying for the most of any actors on the planet.
Here they play support to Harish Verma who wants to fulfill his grandfather's dying wish by marrying a girl called Preeto.
Indeed, his entire family and his best friend (Geeta Zaildar) compete for the grandfather's reward for finding the perfect Preeto.
Of course, it being a Punjabi comedy, there are a host of misunderstandings but, by comparison to recent ones, Mushtaq Pasha's picture is a cut above simply because it flows so nicely.
Both Verma and Zaildar are engaging leading men and Aarti Chabria is a splendidly feisty foil to them.
Of course, we didn't get many of the cultural jokes which had the Punjabi audience falling around laughing but I loved the soundtrack which was splendidly catchy and the movie certainly lured me in more than recent Punjabi comedies.
Mrs W wasn't as convinced but that only means her standing as a heroine for travelling all the way to Wolverhampton is increased in my book.
Laughs: Lots for the Punjabi audience and that is more important than on us.
