Who suggested to Michael Cera that he should halt his career, nip off to Chile and make hippy films?
Well, Cera better start to avoid that person otherwise his career is going to end up in the garbage bin.
And who told Juno Temple that the best way to enhance her CV was taking off her clothes?
At least in Afternoon Delight, her disrobement was pertinent to the plot (she played a hooker). Here, the sight of her upper half is completely gratuitous.
In fact, I am surprised that the agents of the two young Hollywood stars would agree to them signing up to such a mess of a movie.
Sebastian Silva's Magic Magic weaves a host of tangents through Chile's outback as Temple's character gradually loses her mind.
Sadly, I didn't care enough about her to wonder too hard why she does but, suffice to say, it is never explained.
Temple plays Alicia, a naive student, who leaves the United States for the first time to visit her cousin (Emily Browning) in Santiago.
But within a day her host has to depart for some unexplained business and she is left with her odd friends (Cera, Catalina Sandino Moreno and Agustin Silva).
They all rattle her cage but the antics of Cera's character causes her most grief.
Sadly, my description makes it appear that Magic Magic has more focus than it does. In my view, the storyline is all over the place and I found it difficult to follow.
Consequently, I really didn't care what became of the American misfit.
