As a movie geek, I certainly empathise with Richard Misek.
Misek became a man with a mission after spotting himself, by accident, in one of French director Eric Rohmer's films.
At the time, while he was walking down a Parisienne street, he had not realised that he and a lady friend were unwitting extras.
After seeing their appearance in Rendezvous Dans Paris, he made it his business to watch every Rohmer film (I can just imagine the scene).
And then he set about categorising particular scenes and nuances. He even discovered a couple of coincidences which link him with his subject.
Misek has put together a documentary of his findings, focusing on Rohmer's movies in the French capital, and containing scores of wonderful clips.
Rohmer comes from the same era as the French new wave contemporaries such as Francois Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard.
His movies have that marvellous sense of Parisienne and 1960s style which are so intoxicating.
This is an unabashed lover letter to Rohmer and to Paris. In a way it is little more than an individual appreciation with Misek narrating but to those of us who are likeminded, it is a treat.

Director Richard Misek; By using only images from Rohmer's films, I have tried to show his films reflected in my gaze. Gradually, as I worked on the film, my act of looking turned into fascination and then obesession."
