BBFC advice: Contains moderate violence

I can't say I hadn't been warned.
After watching Badlapur at Leicester Odeon, I tweeted at how impressed I have been with Indian cinema this year.
I then remarked that I was just about to see Roy and a twitter follower replied that my positive views would soon be in the past.
He was right. Despite starring one of my favourite Bollywood actors, Ranbir Kapoor, Roy is a mess of a movie.
In fact it is a total waste of Kapoor whose character is incidental to the central love story.
Vikramjit Singh's film focus on a aloof but successful movie director (Arjun Rampal) with a huge appetite for women.
He is suffering writer's block as his new movie is being shot but this is lifted, when he falls in love with another film-maker (Jacqueline Fernandez).
However, their's is a tempestuous relationship and every time they part, it leaves him without the inspiration to write.
Alongside their story is the plot of the his movie which stars Kapoor as a daring thief whose leaving lady happens to look exactly like Fernandez (she is played by her).
Confused? Me too. The movie is horribly convoluted. Rampal's character is, I presume, meant to be cool but actually lacks gumption.
But worse than that is that the parallel story lines don't work and just make the movie baffling.
I was tempted to give up at the interval but stuck it out until the end. Sadly, there was no obvious reward for my perseverance.

Jacqueline Fernandez: "Ranbir (Kapoor) has an amazing mystery about him and you don't know what is going on in his head and, to me, that is very attractive."

Reasons to watch: A very attractive cast.
