BBFC advice: Contains infrequent very mild bad language

Last weekend we drove to Blackpool as a family to watch football and celebrate Master W's 26th birthday.
So, with Mrs W and I sharing the driving I was left with a movie to watch en route and chose Josh Rothstein's persuasive documentary on the subject of Fair Trade.
Its central force is Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman who, along with his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, travels to Ethopia as ambassador for World Vision, Australia.
It was there that his life changes after a meeting with a coffee grower called Dukale.
Jackman is not only bowled over by Dukale's work ethic and hospitality but also by how charities are working towards a sustainable future to help farmers such as him out of poverty.
A key part of this is Fair Trade and, following his trip, Jackman becomes an impassioned advocate of the system which means Third World farmers receive the money they deserve for their produce.
This documentary follows Jackman in Ethopia and in his endeavours to spread the word of Fair Trade thereafter.
It also includes contemporary interviews with the movie star who explains the deep effect his trip to Ethiopia has had on him.
Dukale's Dream is so enlightening that it could well change my shopping behaviour when it comes to Fair Trade.
However, I am not sure that it needed to pay quite as much homage to Jackman in parallel to the film's main subject.
Sure enough, he comes across as a very decent bloke who has a genuine humanitarian outlook and has matched his words with action.
But his camaraderie with Dukale is laid on as thickly as tar as is his selflessness.
This could have been avoided if there had been a narrator. It is a pity they are out of fashion.

Reasons to watch: lays out clearly why we should buy Fair Trade
Reasons to avoid: is a bit too praiseworthy of Hugh Jackman

Laughs: none
Jumps: none
Vomit: none
Nudity: none
Overall rating: 7/10
